Scam Circulating Comanche County
Lawton, Ok., Sept 28, 2021- It’s been brought to the attention of the Comanche County Sheriff’s Office and the Court Clerk’s office that citizens are receiving phone calls from a person identifying as a Comanche County Sheriff’s Deputy, stating that they have missed their jury duty and will be required to pay a fine to stay out of trouble. The perpetrator is being specific, mentioning judges’ names and phoning from what appears to be the Comanche County Sheriff’s Office phone line. Perpetrators often use computer applications in which phone numbers can be mimicked to make it appear as though calls are coming from somewhere they are not.
The Comanche County Sheriff’s Office wants to assure you that they will not call you and request fines be paid over the phone. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the Comanche County Sheriff’s Office at 580-353-4280.
