Intake/ Probation Officer

(ALL POSITIONS WITHIN THE COMANCHE COUNTY JUVENILE BUREAU ARE DEEMED

TO BE POSITIONS THAT ARE SAFETY SENSITIVE)

The Comanche County Juvenile Bureau of the District Court is accepting applications for the position of Court Services Intake /Probation Officer.  The intake position is primarily responsible for providing juvenile detention screening, court intake screening and processing of referrals for children for the Juvenile Bureau's Court Services Unit. Probation Officer position is primarily responsible for providing probation supervision services and case planning for youth adjudicated by the Court.    

 

Applicants should meet the following minimum qualifications:

Education:

 

Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree in the behavioral sciences, criminal justice or a related field.  Candidates for graduation within 3 months of the hire date may also be considered.

Preferences:

 

Acceptable job experience in related fields.

An ability to establish & maintain effective inter-personal relationships with diverse clientele and colleagues.  Candidates should possess: a firm belief in the capacity of people to change, intellectual depth, sound judgement, attention to detail, flexibility, excellent organizational skills, leadership ability, be a self-starter with a strong work ethic, and demonstrate integrity.

Summary of Duties:

 

Persons serving in this capacity will possess a thorough knowledge of the Oklahoma Juvenile Code and the Oklahoma Children's Code (Title 10A of the Oklahoma Statutes). Performs additional duties as outlined in the Job Description for Court Services Intake Officer and Probation Officers.   Including the following:

 

*perform moderately complex social work and legal functions in support of the Juvenile Court process.

 

*perform interviews and investigations which result in recommendations to the District Attorney and Court.

 

*provide paralegal services in support of the District Attorney and Court.

 

*provide community based supervision of youth, courtroom security and transportation of youth in support of the operation of the Juvenile Court.   

 

Salary/Benefits:

Monthly Salary: $3,173.96

Yearly Salary: $38,087.52 

Benefits include medical insurance, retirement, and leave as adopted by the Comanche County Personnel Handbook.
