- October Lien Sale (Docket) - Real estate taxes or special assessment taxes that are not paid by the first Monday in October will have a tax lien filed on them by the county. This lien marks these properties for the June resale if they are not paid for in 2 years and 8 months.
- June Resale - The Treasurers Office conducts a public auction on the second Monday of each June. The auction is for the sale of real estate for non-payment of ad valorem property taxes or non-payment of special assessments such as cleaning and mowing. On an average year, the County will auction 50-100 such properties. The sale is open to the public and all properties are sold to the highest bidder. Lists of these properties become available from our office in May preceding the June auction.
- Commissioner’s Sale - Property sold at the Commissioner’s Sale is county owned property. The county acquires these properties from the Treasurer’s June Resale. Any property not sold to an individual at the resale becomes county owned property. The county has to maintain these properties by mowing and securing them. An individual may come to the Treasurer’s office at any time and request a list of county property. The treasurer may hold an auction to sell multiple properties or if an individual wants to place the bid. If so then the properties will be advertised for three weeks with a sale date and the amount of the bid. This sale is also decided by the highest bid. The successful bidder or bidders must pay for the advertising and deed filing fees. The winning bids must be approved by the Board of County Commissioners before the deeds are issued.
