Treasurer's office sends Property Tax Statements

The Comanche County Treasurer’s Office will mail the 2010 property tax statements on Friday. The office will postmark over 53,000 statements which total over $57 million to be collected.

Comanche County Treasurer Barbara Burk says citizens should receive their statements early next week. She also encourages those who wish to utilize their new credit/debit card payment system, which can be done online at www.comanchecountyok.org or in person at the treasurer’s office. She says most major cards are accepted, the only exception being American Express.

Other payment types for property taxes include cash, check or money order. Citizens can make their payments in-person at the treasurer’s office or by including their payment in the return envelope from their statement. “The return envelope will send the payment directly to the BancFirst Payment Processing Center in Oklahoma City. The center will process the payment which allows the taxpayer’s check to clear faster and their payment to be posted more quickly,” says Burk.

Those with escrow accounts will not receive a statement as it will be sent to their mortgage company. Burk adds if your mortgage has recently been paid off and you do not receive your statement to call the treasurer’s office at 580.355.5763.

Due to the Courthouse being closed on December 31 (the date taxes are due), Burk urges everyone to pay their taxes before then. “Payments postmarked for December 31 will also be accepted and not considered late,” added Burk.
